We don’t have a test lab, and we won’t pretend we do. Here’s what actually goes into every Pitmaster Path review:
1. Spec deep-dives
We pull full manufacturer specifications for every cooker we cover and compare them head-to-head — cooking area, temperature range, hopper capacity, build materials, warranty. The numbers don’t lie, even when marketing does.
2. Verified owner feedback
We read hundreds of verified owner reviews across retailers to find the patterns: what breaks, what’s annoying, what owners love after a year of cooks. One angry review is noise; fifty saying the same thing is signal.
3. Fuel math
Our free calculators model true cost-per-cook from published burn rates and national average fuel prices. When we say a pellet grill costs more per cook than gas, that’s arithmetic, not opinion.
4. No paid placements
Brands can’t pay for a better ranking. If a product wins a comparison, it’s because the specs, the owners, and the math say so.
What this means for you
Our guides won’t tell you how a brisket tasted off a specific grill last Tuesday. They will tell you which grill gives you the most cooking area per dollar, which one owners complain about least, and what it’ll cost you to run for a year. That’s the information that actually decides a purchase.
